- The Enchantment of New York - book presentation
On Friday August 26, The Netherland Club (TNC) hosted the official presentation of the book ‘The Enchantment of New York’. A unique cityguide by Dutch journalist Willem Post with impressive pictures of the Dutch photographer Ton Wienbelt. This beautiful, colorful book describes 75 unique sites in New York City. Hidden gems in The Big Apple which are unknown to even the most real New Yorkians.
During the well-attended book presentation, Willem spoke enthusiastically about some of the 75 spots in the book and showed Ton's pictures on the screen. The first copies of the book were presented to former Consul General Rob de Vos and Marion the Vos.
The next morning, many people joined in a private guided tour of The Village by Willem. He guided the group along many unique, and for many unfamiliar places in this lively neighborhood. He told the group many unknown and almost forgotten stories about music bars, restaurants , streets, parks and hidden corners. Even for the participants that are very familiar with The Village , this tour contained surprisingly much new information about their neighborhood.
Willem and Ton promised us that they will return to New York soon and agreed to give new tours in the future, only for members of TNC.
Those interested in the book ‘The Enchantment of New York’ ($15,- for TNC members) can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or ask for it at the bookstore.
