The Freedom to Resist: Music and Words

Thursday 3rd of May 2018 7:30pm - 9:00pm

On May 3rd, The Netherlands Club of NY will commemorate the end of World War II. This because of the National Remembrance of the Dead (Dutch: Dodenherdenking) on May 4th, and Liberation Day (Dutch: Bevrijdingsdag) on May 5th in the Netherlands. Because of this, TNC will host a special concert on Thursday, May 3rd, titled The Freedom to Resist: Music and Words, by Mary Fillmore (writer) and Hugo Sloterdijk (pianist)

Mary Fillmore, American researcher and writer about the Holocaust and the Dutch resistance movement, will give a special Freedom-speech, following her acclaimed novel 'An Address in Amsterdam'. Her words will be alternated with the beautiful piano play by the award-winning young Dutch pianist Hugo Sloterdijk.

An impressive evening to commemorate, to realize, and to celebrate, that we live in freedom.
